Sermon Text: 1 Corinthians 15:1-11 EHV
Brothers, I am going to call your attention to the gospel that I
preached to you. You received it, and you took your stand on it.
2You are also being saved by that gospel that was expressed in the
words I preached to you, if you keep your hold on it—unless you
believed in vain. 3For I delivered to you as of first importance what
I also received: that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the
Scriptures, 4that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day
in accordance with the Scriptures, 5and that he appeared to
Cephas, then to the Twelve. 6After that he appeared to over five
hundred brothers at the same time, most of whom are still alive,
but some have fallen asleep. 7Then he appeared to James, and then
to all the apostles. 8Last of all, he appeared also to me, the
stillborn child, so to speak. 9For I am the least of the apostles, and I
am not worthy to be called an apostle, because I persecuted God’s
church.10But by the grace of God I am what I am, and his grace
toward me was not ineffective. On the contrary, I worked more
than all of them (and yet it wasn’t my doing, but it was the grace
of God, which was with me, that did it). 11So whether it is I or they,
that is what we preach, and that is what you believed.

Sermon Text John 18: 33-40
33 Pilate went back into the Praetorium and summoned Jesus. He
asked him, “Are you the King of the Jews?” 34 Jesus answered, “Are
you saying this on your own, or did others tell you about me?”
35 Pilate answered, “Am I a Jew? Your own people and chief priests
handed you over to me. What have you done?” 36 Jesus replied, “My
kingdom is not of this world. If my kingdom were of this world, my
servants would fight so that I would not be handed over to the
Jews. But now my kingdom is not from here.”
37 “You are a king then?” Pilate asked. Jesus answered, “I am, as you
say, a king. For this reason I was born, and for this reason I came
into the world, to testify to the truth. Everyone who belongs to the
truth listens to my voice.”
38 “What is truth?” Pilate said to him. After he said this, he went out
again to the Jews and told them, “I find no basis for a charge
against him. 39 But you have a custom that I release one prisoner to
you at the Passover. So do you want me to release the King of the
Jews for you?” 40 Then they shouted back, “Not this man, but
Barabbas!” (Now Barabbas was a rebel.)

Sermon Text Mark 10:35-45
35And James and John, the sons of Zebedee, came up to [Jesus] and
said to him, “Teacher, we want you to do for us whatever we ask of
you.” 36And he said to them, “What do you want me to do for
you?” 37And they said to him, “Grant us to sit, one at your right
hand and one at your left, in your glory.” 38Jesus said to them, “You
do not know what you are asking. Are you able to drink the cup that
I drink, or to be baptized with the baptism with which I am
baptized?” 39And they said to him, “We are able.” And Jesus said to
them, “The cup that I drink you will drink, and with the baptism
with which I am baptized, you will be baptized, 40but to sit at my
right hand or at my left is not mine to grant, but it is for those for
whom it has been prepared.” 41And when the ten heard it, they
began to be indignant at James and John. 42And Jesus called them
to him and said to them, “You know that those who are considered
rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and their great ones
exercise authority over them. 43But it shall not be so among you.
But whoever would be great among you must be your servant, 44and
whoever would be first among you must be slave of all. 45For even
the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his
life as a ransom for many.”

Sermon Text John 2 : 13-22
13 The Passover of the Jews was at hand, and Jesus went up to Jerusalem. 14 In the temple he found those who were selling oxen and sheep and pigeons, and the money-changers sitting there. 15 And making a whip of cords, he drove them all out of the temple, with the sheep and oxen. And he poured out the coins of the money-changers and overturned their tables. 16 And he told those who sold the pigeons, “Take these things away; do not make my Father’s house a house of trade.” 17 His disciples remembered that it was written, “Zeal for your house will consume me.” 18 So the Jews said to him, “What sign do you show us for doing these things?” things?” 19 Jesus answered them, “Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up.”20 The Jews then said, “It has taken forty-six years to build this temple, and will you raise it up in three days?” 21 But he was speaking about the temple of his body. 22 When therefore he was raised from the dead, his disciples remembered that he had said this, and they believed the Scripture and the word that Jesus had spoken.

Sermon Text: Luke 23:1-12
Then the whole company of them arose and brought him before Pilate. 2And they began to accuse him, saying, "We found this man misleading our nation and forbidding us to give tribute to Caesar, and saying that he himself is Christ, a king." 3And Pilate asked him, "Are you the King of the Jews?" And he answered him, "You have said so." 4Then Pilate said to the chief priests and the crowds, "I find no guilt in this man." 5But they were urgent, saying, "He stirs up the people, teaching throughout all Judea, from Galilee even to this place." 6When Pilate heard this, he asked whether the man was a Galilean. 7And when he learned that he belonged to Herod's jurisdiction, he sent him over to Herod, who was himself in Jerusalem at that time. 8 When Herod saw Jesus, he was very glad, for he had long desired to see him, because he had heard about him, and he was hoping to see some sign done by him. 9So he questioned him at some length, but he made no answer. 10The chief priests and the scribes stood by, vehemently accusing him. 11And Herod with his soldiers treated him with contempt and mocked him. Then, arraying him in splendid clothing, he sent him back to Pilate. 12And Herod and Pilate became friends with each other that very day, for before this they had been at enmity with each other.

Sermon Text: Genesis 17:1-7,15-16
1When Abram was ninety-nine years old the LORD appeared to Abram and said to him, "I am God Almighty; walk before me, and be blameless, 2 that I may make my covenant between me and you, and may multiply you greatly." 3 Then Abram fell on his face. And God said to him, 4 "Behold, my covenant is with you, and you shall be the father of a multitude of nations. 5 No longer shall your name be called Abram, but your name shall be Abraham, for I have made you the father of a multitude of nations. 6 I will make you exceedingly fruitful, and I will make you into nations, and kings shall come from you. 7 And I will establish my covenant between me and you and your offspring after you throughout their generations for an everlasting covenant, to be God to you and to your offspring after you.”. . . .And God said to Abraham, "As for Sarai your wife, you shall not call her name Sarai, but Sarah shall be her name. 16 I will bless her, and moreover, I will give you a son by her. I will bless her, and she shall become nations; kings of peoples shall come from her."
